Consultation on Quality Protocol for the production of processed fuel oil from waste lubricating oils

The Environment Agency worked in close consultation with industry and other regulatory stakeholders to develop this Quality Protocol. It sets out the standards and specifications which waste lubricating oil needs to be re-refined to, to be considered a fully recovered material, and no longer subject to the controls that apply to the handling, transport and application of waste.

It was produced following a methodology developed by the Waste Protocols Project to determine end of waste for a number of other waste streams.
